What makes Thalheim water so special is the combination of its naturally occurring minerals – above all lithium, plus sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, chloride, sulphate and hydrogen carbonate. On account of its special composition, the water – technically an "alkaline acidulous water" – is entitled to the designation "medicinal water".
Lithium is considered a natural mood enhancer with such a powerful effect that it is even used in high doses in traditional medicine. Thalheim's healing water doesn't owe its particular effect to lithium alone, however, but rather to the unique interplay between the minerals it contains.
